Bike The Woodlands Month in May

635962485662739961Untitled-1635971780102028552_small_optimizedOne thing you will notice as a resident of The Woodlands is the trails teaming with runners and walkers and the shoulders of the roads busting with bikers.  With our flat land and The Woodlands commitment to outdoor activities, it is hard to resist the urge.

The Woodlands has made a tradition of recognizing Bike Month in May for the last four years.  This year, the Bike The Woodlands Coalition is working with The Woodlands Township to take the celebration to a whole new level!  The Coalition wants to encourage safe cycling practices and generate a culture of respect and awareness by bicyclists and non-bicyclists alike.  Some of the events planned this month are:

Pavilion Season

Outdoor concerts are a great way to enjoy a beautiful evening here in the Woodlands.  The Cynthia Mitchell Woods Pavilion, located on the Waterway, is a favorite for artists and concert goers alike. The Pavilion ranks #2 in the top 100 amphitheaters in the WORLD!!

The outdoor pavilion features lawn seating and also has covered stadium seating.  My favorite feature of the Pavilion is that due to its location, you don’t have to buy a ticket to enjoy a wonderful night out.  There are lots of green-space options outside the Pavilion along the Waterway and at Town Green, where locals pack a picnic basket, a cooler and some lawn chairs to have a great night out with friends.  Concerts sell out here since some of artists prefer a tour stop here in The Woodlands instead of Downtown Houston.  For all you need to know about parking, tickets and more, visit the Pavilion website at

I’ve attached the complete 2016 concert schedule, which is subject to change, but have included some highlights dates below.  Additionally, you can download the Pavilion app for your smart phone, since the amphitheater is always adding new acts.  Note that there are several cultural events that feature free lawn seating and reduced price orchestra seating.

Best of The Woodlands 2016

A great resource in our area is the annual “Best of The Woodlands” list. This list is voted on by The Woodlands residents, through Woodlands Online. There is a “Best in Show” category, awarded to the “Best Business” in the area, as determined by community members. However, it is a great resource for finding reliable, local businesses in almost any category. From events to financial planners, burgers to bakeries, air condition repair to pest control, this list is a compilation of the businesses in the area that are good at what they do, but also provide excellent customer service and great overall value.

Businesses and organizations who placed first through third will receive a special “Best of The Woodlands” logo on their business directory page for the next year, and first place winners will be awarded a plaque to hang proudly at their place of business.

Be sure to sign up at to be kept up to date on all off the great events in the area and be part of the voting public for next year’s “Best of The Woodlands!”
